Mustang gt issues, please help?
i have a 89 mustang gt. its been giving me some problems for a while now. i cant get the motor to run right. sometimes it runs good and the majority of the time it barely runs. ii cant get it to hit on two cylinders, it seems like every time i replace a part it will run great for a few minutes then it will cut out again. the symptoms are sputter in accleration/ slow acceleration, no power. and keep in mind, it doesnt do it all the time. i am puzzled

160k yea RITE ... you cant tell us when the last belt was installed and nobody can but you and i got a qu 4 you YR MAKE MODEL eng size AC pwr strng ???? you go svc just a belt the next will be the IDLER PULLEY water pump ac bearing as well as the power stering pump at the max and a smog pump , BUT it is pending on the YR MAKE AND MODEL ECT ?????? like to help but no info no can do at worst if the belt goes and doesnt get hung up in the fan youre good if you do the belt and no pulley belt snaps -ripps your raditor up tears apart your fan clutch as well as just doing you wrong id say better get your chit sviced or pay big dollar
haynes manual recommends it be changed every 65,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first,if the belt snaps it can cause extreme damage to your engine and cost quite a bit to repair more so on a diesel engine.Many modern cars have a 100,000 mile recommended change on them but I doubt the manufacture would accept liability if it snapped before then.Hope this helps you

Is it possible to convert a Jeep Wrangler Soft top into a Hard top?
I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and this morning I was putting the soft top back on and it completely ripped in the center at the seam. It was the factory top so it was bound to happen. I am unable to attache the windows because dry rot has ruined the velcro and zipper seams. Is it possible to convert it to a soft top? If so, is it difficult and would I have to put holes in my Jeep?

yes you can spray paint your car, first you got to sand it down and fix all the bad spots wash it down with a good paint thinner and get it in a dust free place and if you have a good spray gun and a air compressor then thin your paint down and start painting, good luck.

That being said, even if that is an option most pilots (ceilings and visibility permitting) will still hand fly the aircraft to the ground.
On many commercial aircraft which are only certified for Cat I approaches, the lowest they could go would be 200ft and 1/2sm. From my experience, usually once established on final and by about 1000ft AGL (above ground level) most crews seem to hand fly the aircraft.
Interesting and reassuring to know that pilots prefer to land manually than rely on computers.
Interesting to note that it was possible, well before 9/11, to fly planes by remote. Particularly passenger jets. This technology has actually been around for years and would make it possible to force a plane into a hi-gee turn that human pilots could not perform.
Draw your own conclusions.
Some planes CAN land themselves, with proper support from ground based technology. In actual practice, takeoff and landing are the LEAST automated portions of any flight.

And dont waste gas by accelerating up to red lights and stop signs.
Dont let your car idle excessively. Drive as if you have no brakes. Drive slowly, take your foot off the gas as soon as you see it turn red. Try not to have to stop, but still me moving when it goes to green.
Putting the lowest weight oil in your car helps it work more efficiently. This makes it easier to pump oil through the engine, and the engine moves against itself easier.
Avoid cruise control on hill climbs. Rather than maintaining a precise speed during a hill climb by adding progressively more acceleration, maintain a steady throttle position and allow the vehicle to slow slightly during the climb, then let gravity accelerate the car back up to speed on the descent. Doing so will keep the engine in a more efficient RPM on the climb, and reduce energy wasted braking on the descent at the same average speed. To avoid slowing too much on the climb, it may help to gain extra speed as you approach the climb.
Avoiding jackrabbit starts and keeping speed at a minimum are all useful in this regard. When accelerating, the engine should be kept in the peak of the torque curve. A slow acceleration is less efficient.
Air-conditioning loads, usually a few horsepower, can have a significant impact on mileage. When parking in the sun, a reflective visor across the windshield will reduce solar heating, if possible park with the windshield facing the sun. When initially entering a hot vehicle, open the doors for a moment to vent the hot air to escape, or drive with the windows down to clear the hot air before turning the AC on. Run in Recirc mode to keep the cool air in the vehicle longer. Cycling the AC on and off at key points also makes a difference: Turn the AC off while climbing hills and accelerating, run it at a moderate temperature setting on flat stretches, and run it on maximum setting during hill descents -- this will use energy that might otherwise be expended braking to cool the car down.
If ambient temperatures are not unreasonably hot, rolling the windows down is more efficient than AC at speeds below 50 miles per hour. Should you turn off your air conditioner before you turn off your car?
Someone told me that their mechanic told them that they should turn off the AC before turning off their car. I disagree. Any one have a good explanation on why this should be done?
Ok here is the reason you turn your AC off prior to turning your car off. Shutting the AC down 2 minutes prior to turning off the car allows the moisture that is in the vents to dry out. This prevents mold from forming in the vent duct work. If you have ever got in to a car and turned on the vent system and smelt the mold, you know what I am talking about. this is due to the moisture that builds up in the vent system. Other then that your AC compressor (If functioning correctly) will only engage once the motor has started. if your AC compressor is engaging prior to the motor starting you have other problems on the AC system. The mold issue is the only reason why you should turn your AC off prior to turning your car off. If you have proper drainage for the AC system this is not necessary.

Good Ways to Practice Driving?
I just recently received my permit, and have had my first lesson. I plan on going to my second lesson to make sure I know the basics of moving around in the busy streets of LA.
Problem is, however, that I most likely will not be ready to be driving around like everybody else without being some kind of hazard. I want to practice my driving skills while still being safe and not being a hazard to others.
Any good tips on how to practice? Thanks!
If you have an adult who can take you out driving, see if they can do it in the late evening. Go into an industrial area, (god knows LA has enough of those) and drive the deserted streets that are jambed with trucks during the day. It will give you a chance to drive in a relatively quiet setting and you will have railroad tracks, traffic signals, 4-way stops and just about ever other kind of traffic control situation you could think of.

Since you have a drill, buy a buffing pad(Pep Boys) and use some polish. It should come right off.
