Is it possible so get a driving license in the U.K. with a student visa, or do I have to be a citizen? And can a U.K. driving license be used in the United Arab Emirates?
It is possible to get a UK driving license on a student Visa. It is more awkward than if you were a UK citizen but it is possible. For more information visit www.dsa.gov.uk. They should have more answers on their website, if not give them a ring.
It is possible to trade your UK driving license with a United Arab Emirates one upon arrival. There will not be another test needed, but may take some time.

Information on CBT and Motorbike License?
I am 17 years old and have found that I dont really have enough money to pass my driving test, get a car and insure it. I need to be able to get around and I think a motorbike or moped would be best for me. I have a provisional driving license, but am not sure if this also covers motorcycles, does it?
Also what kind of bikes can I legally ride at 17 and what tests do I need to do? Rough prices if anyone knows too.
Thanks a lot
you will need to sit the cbt test. the cost is 110 for a one day course. most bike shops will either do the test or put you in touch with someone who can do it. you will only be able to ride a 125 untill you have sat your full bike test. the cost of insurance will vary depending on where you live and what bike you have.
if you buy a 125 with race fairings then your insurance will be much higher. best to buy a naked 125 as these are cheaper to buy and insure.
Ride safe.
when u got ur provisional did u tick the motorbike bit , a cbt cost about 80 quid and lasts for 2 years after that it has to be retaken or you can do a direct access course u can ride upto 125cc on cbt
Try www.dvla.gov.uk or www.dsa.gov.uk

Two driving problems?
ok #1 when I turn i am worried that the wheel don't turn back to straight#2 feel like i have to hit the brake all the way down to stop
On #2, it depends on how quickly you need to stop. If you can coast up to a stop, then slowly hit the brakes. If you need to stop quick, then hit them harder.
Don't worry about #1, the wheel will fall back into place (straight) after turning.
1. The steering wheel will want to get back to straight ahead; it's made to do that, and you'll probably have to slow it down a bit. Practice will help, as you get the "feel" of the car.
2. If the brake pedal goes too low or is soft, you need to have the brake system checked. It may be low on fluid, have air in the lines, or the power brake system may not be working. That needs repair, not practice. Get it checked soon.

What happens when opposing insurance company totals my car?
I was in an accident and the at fault drivers insurance company is saying its a total loss. I am financing the vehicle and just got it at the beginning of the year. I don't believe I have GAP, but do know I need to pay the deductible. Since the accident was not my fault, am I still out of a vehicle? What actions should I take?
No, you do NOT pay the deductible, if the other person's insurance is paying. You only pay the deductible if YOUR policy pays you.
Are you still out a vehicle? Most likely. If you agreed to pay $100,000 for a 1978 Chevy Chevette, you got a bad deal. The insurance company is only "on the hook" for the actual cash value.
They don't owe loan payoff, they don't owe replacement cost, they don't owe any taxes, negative equity, late fees, interest payments, none of that.
So, if you owe less on the vehicle than it's worth, you'll have some money in your pocket. If you owe MORE on the vehicle than it's worth, you'll have to write a few checks to get out of the loan.
As far as action, your best bet is to get a clear idea of your car worth - like at www.kbb.com, private party sale value. That way, you won't be surprised when the adjuster calls.

I bought a car 2 years ago and never taxed it as did not know it was needed. What do I risk if I tell DVLA?
I am a foreigner
The DVLA obviously do not know that you own the car and so you have not got a V5C in your name. Without that you cannot tax the car.
First get the V5C, you need form V62 (downloadable or from post office) then you can get tax.
If you are not a UK or EU citizen please remember you cannot drive after 12 months of being here until you have passed a UK driving test and if you have not your insurance is almost certainly invalid.
Ignorance is no excuse, neither is " I am a foreigner". The log book contains the information about what you need to do as a new of owner of a car, in regards to registration of same.
How did you know you needed insurance? Guess it may be invalid anyway! Have you got an MOT?
The best thing you can do, is to stop using the car until you have got all the correct documents, because if you had an accident, it would be the other person who would lose out.
Oh, one more thing, have you got a licence or didn't the seller of the car tell you, you needed that as well!
What would you have done if you had run some innocent. person over ,or crashed into someones car. Left the car and run away.Because you had no tax or insurance and because you had not registered the car. That is the trouble in this country foreigners don't bother to find out the laws of the country they are staying in. And normally get away with a lot of things
And??????? You live here - you should make yourself aware of the laws of the country in which you live.
Get it taxed tomorrow and remember that you have been driving around without valid insurance and killing someone would have resulted in a jail sentence for you.
Just tax it from first of april you will need the reg document or just the new keeper section do it at the local post office plus the MOT cert. and valid insurance cert.
tell them you are a foreigner and they wont mind in the least .
wel if you got tags for it you payed tax for it if your have register it i wouldnt say anything not unless you just want to spen d money now
