Will the garage check and tell you if you need a new one when you have an MOT/Service? Or is this something you need to keep a check on yourself? My car's done 87,000 miles, so I think I need to get a new cam belt. Any advice? And how much should this cost (it's a ford focus ghia)
Read your owner's manual.. It will be very specific about when to change the belt. I have done one recently, and if you don't know what you are doing, you can make a mess of things! At this time, you should change the tensoiner and other related pulleys. It can be costly due to the price of parts. Use only genuine Ford parts. Shop for best price on internet. Most better dealerships have E-mail directly into their parts department. This engine was designed by Porsche for Ford. An experienced tech can do without special tools, but it is still a small challenge. The fron damper must be removed. Good Luck!!
I'd say you are dangerously over due..get professional advice asap..
